Advice about Brasserie to suit particular food requirements

We are spending several days in Paris in October and will be meeting up with two sets of relatives travelling from the UK who we have never met (and they haven%26#39;t met each other either!). At the suggestion of one couple we are having dinner together one evening and they have come up with Vaudeville as a place they have previously enjoyed.

I%26#39;ve read through some earlier postings re this place and it looks very nice indeed however I%26#39;m puzzled by the very limited menu that I have found on the web. Two of the people are vegetarians and also don%26#39;t eat fish so I want to be sure they will have some choice. I haven%26#39;t been to Paris before and don%26#39;t know if a menu with very few options is the norm or perhaps I haven%26#39;t found the correct menu. There were perhaps 4 starters and 4 entrees only - maybe the dinner menu is different. Help!!

Was this the menu you found?

If so that is just their specialities. Unless things have changed they have a far more extensive menu.

|||

Yes that%26#39;s the menu. Is it possible to view a more extensive menu or am I being too optimistic?

|||

It looks like it%26#39;s just the specials that are listed there. As for the vegetarians...Well they may find something but I doubt that they%26#39;ll have a large choice on offer.

I can%26#39;t find a complete online listing but this is an example of one of their fixed menus :

Aperitive

Kir with white wine

Starters

Rillettes of fresh and smoked Salmon

Six Burgundy snails

Duck Foie Gras flavored with port

Curly endive salas with croutons and diced bacon

Main course

Seafood Plate

Scallop of Scottish Red Label Fresh Salmon with Provencal stuffed artichokes

Fish of the day

Heart of Rumsteak with pepper and flambeed with Armagnac

Fried duck breast with thyme -flavoured gravy

Desserts

Selection of 3 ripe cheese

Creme Brulee with Bourbon Vanilla

Dessert of the Day

Assortment of Ice Creams or Sorbets

Chocolate fondant cake and coffee custard

This site suggests that there is a %26quot;vegetarian platter%26quot; available along with vegetarian meals such as %26quot;tagliatelli with wild mushrooms%26quot;.

I%26#39;ve been to le Vaudeville and can assure you that the menu is quite extensive. I%26#39;m sure everyone will find appealing offerings. And, the interior is gorgeous!

|||

The Vaudeville is popular because it has a 3-course set dinner including 1/2 bottle of wine per person at a very good price. I don%26#39;t know if one can order a la carte, and I don%26#39;t know whether there would be vegetarian options.

|||

All of the Flo Brasseries like the Vaudeville have an extensive menu. That%26#39;s the whole point of being a brasserie.

|||

Going to a typical brasserie like Le Vaudeville with vegetarians is like touring Médoc with AA followers! There might be some veggie options, but they won%26#39;t be very festive, whilst people around will be stuffing themselves with oysters, steak, lobster, choucroute, etc. For aficionados of this particular food fetish, there is a recent thread about %26quot;vegetarian restaurants in Paris%26quot; or something, with plenty of recommendations to keep on the straight and narrow.

|||

We stay right up the street from Le Vaudeville and have eaten there countless times. Why their on line menu reads as it does is beyond us. Great escargots.

|||

For vegetarians I would stay away from brasseries and look for vegetarian restaurants or small places specializing in big mixed salads.

Flo is a big chain that has got mixed reviews in the past few years.

have a look at the following sites (many places are found on all/ most lists)
