How to get to Luchon

I would like to go to Luchon for a hike. What airport do I fly into ? If I go to Paris can I take the TGV to Luchon ? It will be my first time. Thanks.

The nearest airport is Toulouse.

There are trains from Paris to Toulouse and Toulouse to Luchon. See www.sncf.com for timetables.

There are also direct trains from Paris to Luchon. The journey takes more than 10 hours.

I know how to read a map. I saw the trip on a website and since I was on Tripadvisor I decided to ask.

That was a needless sarcastic remark.

You may want to have a look at Tarbes and Pau airports, they have flights to Paris Orly. But you%26#39;d have to take a train to Luchon anyway.

Hi

Everyone is correct in that you can get the train to Luchon.

Depending on how long you are coming to the region though it might be good to hire a car as that would give you lots of options in terms of driving to some of the more remote hikes/walks in the region.

Best wishes. HOpe you enjoy your trip to the region.

If you are travelling from Paris there is a direct route via the overnight sleeper train. If you check out the SNCF website and look at their carail service it will give you the option of a sleeper from Paris Austerlitz (apologies about the spelling)

If you are only here for a short stay you do not necessarily need a car as our tourist office provides a bus service to some of the best walking in the area (Hospice du France and Lac d%26#39;oo)during the main holiday months.

Hope this helps.
