I intend to take vacation in NICE and I would like to visit some places like
Antibes
Brignoles
Cagnes-sur-Mer
Cap Bénat
Cap d%26#39;Antibes
Cap Lardier
Cotignac
Grimaud
Île du Levant
Îles d%26#39;Hyères
Juan-les-Pins
Menton
Principado de Mônaco
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Saint-Tropez
Toulon
Villefranche-sur-Mer
so I have many questions:
Is it better to rent a car??
I need a good place to stay at nice but I cant pay for a 4 or 5 hotel stars
What cities worth to be visited??
How many days to stay at Nice to go around and visit these places??
I intend to go in July- 2010- with my husband and my daughter- 12 years old. Is it the best season????
thanks for all

july august is the very high season, very busy and expensive
june or sept are better in high season
I recommand
Antibes, cap d%26#39;antibes, juan les pins (it%26#39;s the same)
Cagnes-sur-Mer (the old town)
Grimaud (but not in july%26amp;august, too busy)
Principado de Mônaco
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat
Villefranche-sur-Mer
I don%26#39;t like
Menton
Saint-Tropez (specially in july-august)
Toulon
I don%26#39;t know (not near Nice)
Brignoles
Cap Bénat
Cap Lardier
Cotignac
Île du Levant
Îles d%26#39;Hyères
but where is %26quot;saint paul de vence, eze....%26quot; ??
do not look the number of star but the quality of hotels (star = size and some equipment, a 4 star can be very bad)
the question, how much would you like to pay by night : 150, 250 euros... per night ?
4 or 5 days minimum in Nice
and may be 2 others days near Hyeres...
you do not need to rent a car to visit Nice and area if you are not in rush
(except if you visit in evening)
after that depend if you have money or not (bus 1 euro and towards other cities slow = car fast but expensive + parking fees + a lot of traffic jam)

The first half of july isn%26#39;t as busy as the second half - june or spetember are better -fewer tourists
Antibes/Cap d%26#39;Antibes/Juan-les-Pins -antibes /cap d%26#39;antibes are worth visting juan les pins is nice in the winter/spring when hardly anyone is there.
Cagnes-sur-Mer - i prefer Haut de cagnes
Menton - not my favourite place but lovely gardens - I personally vastly prefer Vintimglia to Menton but that is a minority view
Principado de Mônaco - some folk love it some folk hate it.
Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat- lovely walks, beaches, small zoo, villa rothschild , free range parrots which are quite entertaining
Villefranche-sur-Mer - pleasnt medieval town, nice beach and port
All of the abovce are easy to reach from Nice by bus or train
Saint-Tropez - its ok off season but a bit far and hard to get to by public tranport.
other easy to get to and worthwhile places to visit from Nice are - Eze village, Entrevaux, St paul de vence, vence, levens , Tourettes-levens. Villeneuve-loubet village, La turbie, tende, la brigue, sospel, St martin vesubie, breil sur roya etc etc

I have a FABULOUS Hotel. It is either a 2 or 3 star, but feels like a 3 or 4 star. http://www.crescere.fr/hotels-regence.htm Hotel Regence. on 21 Rue Massena. (A pedestrian street, just packed with good restraunts. Blocks from the beach and blocks from the old section. We get the junios classic room --it is 75 E in high season---63 in low season. I think all rooms have AC, and bath.
Enjoy!!!
