Paris in December

We will be in Paris for a couple of days in Dec.

How cold can we expect the weather to be, We are Aussies so will be leaving our summer.

What sort of Christmas celebrations and decorations are we likely to see?

Is it better for us to change US dollars directly into euros when we arrive in Paris,as in Australia we would have to change US dollars into Aussie dollars first, then into euros, therby losing out.

Also we need to get to the Gare de Nord railway station to catch a train to Brussels, as we are staying at the France Louvre Hotel, on the Rue de Ravioli, approx, how much would a taxi fare be from the hotel to the station.

Thanks for any replies.

If you don%26#39;t have a lot of bags, the metro (ligne 1) is a straight shot from your area to Gare de Lyon. I%26#39;m not sure what a taxi would cost but I%26#39;m guessing 15 euros but others can tell better.

In terms of exchanging, I think you need to ask other Aussies. I also think the best is using the ATM machines as long as your bank card company doesn%26#39;t add big fees.

Dress for continental winter ... 30%26#39;s Fahrenheit

The temperatures can range from mild to quite cold, there%26#39;s no telling. I%26#39;d pack for it all. Bring layers and perhaps a coat with a zip-out lining for easy transitioning.

Paris is wonderful at Christmas. The shop windows are marvelously %26quot;dressed up%26quot; and the displays are quite imaginative, especially the Grand Magasins and the patisseries. You%26#39;ll love it!

Btw, I can%26#39;t imagine the cab would be more than 20-30 euros, depending on time of day, surface traffic, number of bags etc.
