My girlfrien and I going on our first trip to Paris, We are thinking of buying a Museum Pass, but we are not sure if this is a good deal or not. She wants to see the Gardens at Versailles on Sunday so we can see the fountains in action. Will the Pass get us into Versailles to see the fountains, or will we have to buy another pass?

The pass does not include the fountains, I believe it is 8Euros. The general opinion is that you should purchase some type of pass or ticket prior to arriving at Versailles as the lines can be very long.

If you%26#39;re just going to Versailles, just prepurchase your tickets for Versailles.
The minimum Paris Museum Pass is 2-days, which is 32 Euro. According to the Paris Museum Pass website, their pass would replace the 15 Euro admission (which apparently doesn%26#39;t include everything, such as the fountains?).
So plan what you%26#39;ll be doing for the Saturday before (or Monday after, knowing some museums are closed that day), using this list as a possible guide:

If you will be attending enough museums to justify the expense, go for it. And if the difference is small enough, factor in the time you%26#39;ll save not waiting in line into the cost.

We are arriving on Saturday, and taking it easy. We are talking about the 6 day pass, we will be in Paris for 8 days.

You really need to know what you want to see and then compare the prices for admission with the price of the pass. If the pass is cheaper, great. If not, you need to decide if it%26#39;s worth the price difference to avoid lines. We avoided significant lines at Versailles (longest by far), Musee d%26#39;Orsay, and the Louvre. However, there is reportedly another entrance to the Louvre without lines (usually). Many of the other places we went did not have lines that were long enough to make a difference. The pass does not generally include anything extra such as audioguides or the fountains at Versailles, but we thought it was worth it for the lines that we missed. Also you can go back to somewhere you have already been during the duration of the pass without paying again.

When you skip the lines that can be hours long, you will say that the MP is worth every penny.

I love the museum pass - if you see two museums a day it generally covers the cost.
Being able to skip the lines is wonderful also you don%26#39;t feel you have to see the entire museum to get your moneys worth. Many of the larger museums are better if you split them into a couple shorter visits.
It%26#39;s nice to spontaneously run back into a museum just to see that special something one more time before you leave!

I%26#39;m impressed by the thoughtful responses on this topic; I%26#39;ve seen some cases where contributors get very opinionated and come across a bit snooty commenting on any differing opinions.
A lot has been mentioned about long lines at the museums. Appreciate comments on whether that will be less of a problem in late March-early April when we will be in Paris, compared to other peak months for tourism. Even if the lines are somewhat shorter, I%26#39;m thinking we should go for the pass anyway since we expect to make fairly extensive use of the pass over our 6 day visit.
Thanks.

Make sure the museums you want to see are on the pass because they all are not on the pass. If you get, for example, a four day pass, you have to use it for four consecutive days, no skipping a day and doing something else or you loose that day on the pass

I bought the 6 day pass and definitely came out ahead financially, although I squeezed lots of museums into those 6 days. Consequently I visited museums I might otherwise have skipped, which sometimes resulted in some pleasant surprises.
For example, there are some great military museums in the complex of Les Invalides; the Delacroix museum is small but very evocative; the Decorative Arts museum in the Louvre complex is great. If something is not as good as you%26#39;d hoped, you can move on without feeling like you%26#39;ve wasted a heap of money. Just work out which is the best day to activate your pass to give you the best result.

My group used the pass last year at the Louvre and the D%26#39;Orsay- we were glad we had them. There were long lines everywhere especially of school children. We bypassed this at both museums- the entry on Rue Rivoli is best for the Louvre. Be prepared to walk and be enchanted, overwhelmed and astonished!
