Best Western

There seems to be dozens of Best Western Hotels in Paris, most centerally located. Does one especially stand out. They also seem to keep their old names in addition to the Best Western so this can be confusing. Help as I can use my points but want to select wisely. Just need to be in center. Thanks

They are all still privately run but use their BW affiliation primarily to get noticed and get into the BW reservation system, although they do have to meet with some BW standards as well. My past experiences have all been really good. Do a search on here and look through the TA ratings to find one that works for you. My method is to go onto the BW website, do a search for availability (particularly if you%26#39;re looking for one for points), and then do a specific search for that hotel on here to see how it rates. I%26#39;ve stayed in Paris at the Jardin de Cluny, in Rome at the Hotel Canada, and in Santa Margherita di Ligure and all the hotels have been outstanding. The central Paris BW properties are often booked up early, so the sooner you can make your reservations the better.

We stayed here

in Sept last year and thought it was excellent. Most other reviews seem to agree.

This is the BW I looked at for our trip next year as well (Opera Louvre) and I was wondering - they state that the rooms have a mini bar. Is that a small fridge? Has anybody ever tried to get a small fridge for their rooms or is that not very common (just thinking about the wine and cheese we will buy for sure :-)

Thanks !!

My sister and I stayed at the BW Le Jardin de Cluny a couple of years ago. It was a nice hotel. Good location with a metro stop just around the corner and not far from Notre Dame. With the metro stop so close we were able to get around Paris easily.

The hotel room was nice too. We had a room overlooking a quiet street. The AC worked great and it did have a minibar where we did remove the items and put our own snacks in there. We did have a superior room though and I think it was a little bit bigger than their standard rooms but still small in comparison to US hotel rooms. But so small that we felt cramped.

Thanks so much for the reply :-) I really appreciate it!

I stayed at Best Western Louvre Opera in July and it was very nice. We were a party of three, so we were given a room at the attic. I think other rooms are smaller and don´t sleep three. Elevator took us to the 4th floor, and from there we had to climb a flight of stairs to get to our room. It´s a bit of a nuisance having to carry luggage upstairs, but it was quite different and very fun for our kid.

Room was impeccably clean, silent, and for Paris standards, spacious. Reception staff was corteous and helpful, and location is superb. We walked to most tourist sites; only had to take subway twice.

We didn´t have breakfast included in our rate, so we only had breakfast once. It was incredibly overpriced for the offerings (quite poor even if we didn´t have to pay for it). Better cross Ave de l´Opera and grab some pain au chocolat at Paul´s. Yummy!

Hope this helps.

We stayed for the first time at a European BW this past March at the BW Grand Hotel de l’Univers advertised by the hotel in their brochure as being welcoming and friendly. Location is really central being on a small street off rue de Buci in the 6th. They were anything but welcoming and friendly though-first time for us to be treated by rude, indifferent staff, just a bad attitude exuded all round from the moment we arrived from front desk to breakfast attendant while housekeeping were really nice. The clerk who quoted a lower rate via email was loathe to be asked to verify it after we checked in and realized she did not do so as is custom. She quoted a much higher rate and was not pleased to be corrected. Returned home and sent a note to the BW corporate office and they communicated the complaint to the staff who apologized and assured they would seek to correct their attitude problem. However, the hotel was like other BW’s in Europe very individual in style and not like the US versions that are standardized.

BW, as noted, is not a chain, just a reservation service. Their hotels range from budget to 4 star. Never was dissatisfied with any of them. Try the 4 star BW Opera Richepanse. We will be there in Oct.

Although BW is a chain each hotel is independently owned. One can make reservations with directly with the hotel not solely via Best Western.

I just reread my post on the Le Jardin de Cluny and I meant to say that the room was not so small that we felt cramped. It was a good size room and did not seem small at all.

We didn%26#39;t have much interaction with the staff so I can%26#39;t comment on too much on that. They always greeted with a smile and a hello when we asked for our room key. But we didn%26#39;t need to ask for too much info from them.
