Took breakfast in the Marais Breakfast in America and was dissappointed! The breakfast was really awful, not at all authentic and poor quality. I know the French aren%26#39;t big on breakfasts but this was truly terrible. You got 2 slices of tiny brown bread, my sausage and egg compised of 2 of the tiniest, palest sausages i%26#39;ve ever seen (they had been deep fried too!)and about a spoonful of scrambled egg. My boyfriend had 2 fried eggs and bacon which was 3 teeny rashers of crispy bacon, about 1 mouthful! The side of fried potato had garlic, pepper and onion in them, not really a breakfast dish! Think I will just stick to my usual pain au chocolat in future!

If you had read my post properly I said I would stick to my usual pain au chocolat in future, I just fancied trying something different.
Is there anything wrong in trying food from another country ? I have had wonderful Japanese/Thai cuisine in Paris as well as countless French meals and like to try a variety of foods. I just thought a cafe owned by Americans and catering for Americans (all the clients were American when I was there) would have set it sights a bit higher.

Thank you Nippy! I would simply pardon the rude response you just got from exemen...as I feel the reason we are here is to share our experiences ... the good and the bad...so that the rest of us can learn from it. I do find it interesting though, the responses that are made (usually rude!) when someone mentions having eaten a typically American dish while in Paris... and yet they are all running to Chinese or to have a falafel at some place or other!! I happened to have just viewed a great photo album (referenced here on TA) yesterday, and the %26quot;photographer%26quot; had some mention of Breakfast in America, not so much in reference to the food there, but more about a place to meet other Americans, I think. I had never heard of it. And although, it would be far from my interest, I do believe others will be grateful as well for your input. -Tre

Sure! Nippy, you go girl!

I ate there recently and it was absolutely horrible. Also, I hope this does not turn into another %26quot;hamburger%26quot; thread with people insulting the food choices of others. I think it is worthwhile to report bad meals to prevent others from wasting their money at places like BIA.

I%26#39;m about to go out to breakfast with my girlfriend, and since I live in America, I guess we%26#39;ll have an %26quot;American Breakfast%26quot;, however an American breakfast can go in many directions. My favorite at our local Coney Island is a 3-egg omelet with spinach, feta, tomatoes, and onions. It%26#39;s served with either rye, white, or wheat toast and a huge serving of crispy hashbrowns. It%26#39;s so huge that we always split it. I%26#39;m off!

Breakfast in America is my favorite album. ;)
I have to admit the first thing that popped into my head was our International House of Pancakes, or IHOP. ;)

Michi-noto, that breakfast sounds divine! Yum!!

Ahhhhh...it was certainly devine. The good thing is that now I won%26#39;t be hungry for the rest of the day, maybe a little cottage cheese later, but I certainly won%26#39;t need any lunch. You should try one!

I had breakfast at the Breakfast in America on the rue des Ecoles, next door to our hotel. I also thought it was not worth the $$. Coffee was weak to boot.
