Four of us will start our Euro trip from Paris in Sept. We%26#39;ll arrive at around noon (on Wed), and will be staying at Hotel Renoir Saint Germain at Montparnasse (56 Rue Du Montparnasse, Paris 75014). Each of us will be carrying a small piece of luggage.
Would it be better for us just to take the Taxi? What would the fare be (there%26#39;s surcharge for the 4th person and 3 additional luggages), how easy would it be to take RER?

The least complicated thing to do is to take a Taxi Parisien [not a gypsy cab]. Maybe a wait for a larger vehicle. Metered fare plus €2,60 for the fourth passenger and €1 per bag. Have the address written down to show to the driver.
Or RER B to Denferet-Rochereau, then Line 4 of the Metro, direction Porte de Clignancourt, get off at Vavin. You can also use Line 6 and the Edgar Quintet stop. Note that as you head toward a platform in the Metro, there will be a sign listing all of the stops in order.
