Hi guys!
I finally sorted out a place to stay and i will be based in the bastille on Rue Sedaine. My boyfriend%26#39;s birthday is the day we travel and by the time we arrive and settle it will be around 8 - 9pm on a wednesday night, i%26#39;m looking for somewhere nearby you%26#39;d suggest for an informal (but lovely) meal.
anything else not to miss around here? we%26#39;re familiar with rue de lappe and it%26#39;s bars but thats aabout it.

I don%26#39;t know how close this is to the rue Sedaine but at least it%26#39;s in the 11th...
Melac http://www.melac.fr/pages/english.html
It is a wine bar and restaurant. We had lunch here once sampling wine by the glass with a plate of cheese and a basket of bread, and went back that night for dinner.

There are lots of restaurants in the rue de la Roquette, which is one block south of rue Sedaine and runs parallel to it. None of them are outstanding I think. Or you could go over to the Place des Vosges. Ma Bourgogne is lovely. They have heat lamps so you can usually eat outdoors on the Place. Actually you won%26#39;t have any trouble finding a nice place in that area.

We have been regulars at %26quot;Café de l%26#39;Industrie%26quot; for many years. It%26#39;s very informal and loved by locals. The food is simple French and usually quite good.

All three of these suggestions are very good in my opinion. Café de l’Industrie, as metromole says, is very local and I think you’d enjoy it on your first night. Melac is a great wine bar/restaurant but they’re closed in August. Ma Bourgogne is a classic, on the beautiful place des Vosges.
Have a wonderful stay in Paris!

great suggestions, I have read a lot about cafe de l%26#39;industrie since posting so that sounds great for first night, will also keep in mind the others.
Could I also ask about oberkampf? I know a bit about the area and it%26#39;s bars but i%26#39;m just wondering if it%26#39;s as cheaply priced now as some sites suggest it is ?
|||
Rue Oberkampf is not cheap, but it%26#39;s cheerful at least! Café Charbon has been a classic for years now, and it certainly a place to remember. If you want something more %26quot;gastronomic%26quot;, but still reasonably bobo, try Le Repaire de Cartouche on rue Amelot.

thanks! I will definatley by trying oberkampf this time. I should have said cheap for drinks prices, like a beer etc.

There are references to a special wine-tasting at Melac specifically on the 2nd Saturday of September. It seems as though they block off the street and actually press grapes that grow around the shop. And sample other vintages.
I just happen to have booked a trip that includes this date and will wander by.
