We will be travling to Switzerland from Normandy France area. We have one night stay some where. Does anyone have any suggestions what town to see and stay in on the way in France?

Assuming you%26#39;re driving, which towns are you going from and to? Avranches to Geneva will be an entirely different route from Dieppe to Zurich, so the detail would help.
Have you found any of the online mapping sites?
viamichelin.com/viamichelin/…MaHomePage.htm or maps.google or mappy are all useful

Thankyou for your responce. I have looked at a map site but just wondered about a good town or area to visit on our way. We are staying in Bayeux France and traveling to Lauterbruner area outside Interlaken through Bern Switzerland.

Using the viamichelin recommendation (driving via Paris) puts you in Burgundy after about 5-6 hours driving, so somewhere round about Beaune would be an option. Beaune itself is a lovely small town more or less surrounded by vineyards; a detour through the villages is pleasant, even if just to recognise the names, and you could also visit the Hôtel-Dieu if you have time:

About an hour further on is Besançon - we%26#39;ve only stopped off here briefly for lunch and a stroll, but it was well worth it, with a pretty town in a loop of the River Doubs overlooked by Vauban fortifications. There is also an astronomical clock which we missed seeing, but apparently amazing. The regional tourist website is: franche-comte.org/dn_besancon-tourism-besanc…
