We are staying at Hotel Britannique near Place du Chatelet and next to Marais. I would be grateful for any recommendations for decent restaurants, bistros etc. within a 10 min walk. On past experience when we have walked miles (we always walk everywhere in Paris)during the day we sometimes feel like eating close to home. We%26#39;re not looking for something grand just good wholesome French food (or middle eastern)with a nice vibe and not overrun with tourists. Can anyone help?

The Brasserie D%26#39;Ile St Louis is just across the pedestrian bridge the connect the Ile de la Cite with the Ile St Louis. On a trip to Paris we usually have a drink there in the afternoon sitting outside and one dinner - charcroute and tart a l%26#39;onion.
But you are not very far from Robert %26amp; Louise, 64, Rue Vieille du Temple or Le Colimacon one block away at 44, Rue Vieille du Temple

Don%26#39;t forget to scan the hotel reviews to see if others have mentioned a place they liked...

One of my own favorites is Au Trappiste, the Belgian bar only 100 meters away from the Hôtel Britannique.
Their dishes are copious, tasty, and economical compared to a lot of places in the neighborhood.
The actual location is on the first little snippet of rue Saint Denis that leaves Place du Châtelet.

Try La Maree Verte, 9, rue de Pontoise or Le Reminet, 3, rue des Grandes-Degres. I have eaten at both and they are EXCELLENT! Three courses, bottle of wine, tax %26amp; tip for around 85-95 euros for TWO people. Enjoy!

Thank you all for your input. I shall look into all of them.
Travelnutty: I had already scanned the hotel reviews before I posed this question. There was very little hence my post.
Any other recommendations will be gratefully received.

We loved our meals at Au Vieux Comptoir, 17 rue des Lavandieres Sainte Opportune. We ate there twice in May and can%26#39;t wait to go back next year.
We also liked Brasserie Le Zimmer at 1 Place du Chatelet, nice atmosphere and good value menu (not so much if you go a la carte)
You can read more details about our meals on my blog:

Have fun!

Bistrot Victoires, 6 rue de la Vrillère, 1er, is a wholesome Paris bistro in an authentic Belle Epoque setting.
A gold mine for good, fun restaurants in a pedestrian environment next to your hotel is rue Montorgueil. The further afield from Les Halles, the better value and the less touristy. I would recommend la Grille de Montorgueil at 50 rue de Montorgueuil, that is reviving the tradition of Les Halles, when it used to be the actual central market.
Quai quai is a new address on Ile de la Cité, but not the tourist/Notre Dame part, the more austere western tip devoted to judges and lawyers. Fun double entrance on quai des Orfèvres (Nr 74) and place Dauphine. Serious food.
Other traditional bistrot fare: Pierrot (18, rue Etienne Marcel, 2e), Pharamond (24 rue de la Grande Truanderie)
Tapas: Max y Jeremy, 30 rue Saint-Sauveur, 2e

+1 for Au Vieux Comptoir. This is a noted wine bar. We sampled several glasses of wine there one afternoon with a plate of cheese and basket of bread. It was so nice that we went back that night for dinner. We had told the lady, Anne, that we wanted to try a few glasses of white wine with a seafood dinner, and as soon as we showed up she welcomed us and poured two glasses of white to get us started. She had remembered.

But you are very close to this, on the Right Bank just across from Notre Dame...

We%26#39;ve started having lunch there, but they move away in the fall sometime. Everyone raises their glasses to the crowds on the Vedettes Du Pont Neuf as they cruise by.

Thanks for the recommendation for drinks and music on the boat across from Notre Dame. I have saved that info for when we go.
And for the other restaurant La Table du Vieux Comptoir.. I have it noted. It looks nice.
