Navigo Découverte: Can I Buy IAt The Train Station At CDG?

Thanks!

|||

I%26#39;m trying to remember if that was a possibility, and I don%26#39;t think so--could be wrong though. How%26#39;s that for a definite answer?

|||

I%26#39;ll give a similarly nondefinitive answer... I don%26#39;t see why not, as we have bought the old Carte Orange at the RER station before... got ours from the ticket window rather than a kiosk...

|||

Thanks for clarifying that for me, guys!

|||

Ok, perhaps another clue - - the blue kiosks have a purple area where you reload a Navigo, so that gives higher possibility you can actually buy your first one there, although you might have to see an agent to accomplish it. Are you wanting to load a 5-zone pass to it? If not, just wait until you get into Paris. You can buy your RER ticket at the kiosks - the one I used took only euro coins which I had gathered up from all our pockets, suitcase, backpacks, purses, etc back home.

believe it or not, i just learned about this tripadvisor forum thingee just last week and this was my very first question - some dude answered it...posted below...I%26#39;ll also put the link to the thread.

At CDG, you have to go to one of the two RER stations to buy the pass or RER ticket. There is a station inside Terminal 2, and another one about 300-400 meters outside Terminal 3, or via CDGVAL rail from Terminal 1. See the maps:

Good info here but the fares haven%26#39;t been updated for 2009:

Yes, you can purchase your Navigo Découverte at CDG. I did late last year.

thanks for your help on this... i guess i have one other question...I have no idea how a %26quot;Carnet%26quot; of tickets work.

Myself and my wife are going to paris and will be in zones 1 and 2 the entire time (Wednesday through monday am) except when we travel from cdg to our hotel in the city, a day trip to versailles and then when we leave to go to nord train station on monday am.

Should we just buy the Pass Navigo Decouverte for wed - sun and use those carnetts for the other train trips? Does it cost a ticket per zone? and if so...would we use that card for zones 1 and 2 and then use carnetts for the remaining zones travelled?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

|||

You lose 2 days on the Navigo by starting Wed. If you trave a LOT that%26#39;s OK. If not the carnet is just 10 tickets at a discounted price.

|||

A %26#39;carnet%26#39; is just a set of ten single tickets, usually just for Paris zones 1-2. You can%26#39;t use them for CDG or Versailles. The RER ticket (r/t) to Versailles is about 6 euro. The RER ticket (one way) to CDG is about 8.60 euro.

We use the metro and bus a lot so we buy the Carte Orange (weekly pass, now on an electronic pass card) even if we arrive on Wednesday. That is a cost of less than 3.5euro/day even for the short week. If you think you will only ride m/bus one or two times a day, then just buy the %26#39;carnet%26#39; for the in-town travel, and the RER tickets as needed for Versailles and CDG.

You can buy it. We did a few months ago.

Its easier as the staff can speak English.

Just bring your passport size photos.
