Hello there
I have just booked flights to Marseilles at the end of October, with the intention of spending three days in Provence.
Could anyone tell me what kind of weather to expect at this time of year?
And which is the best part of Provence to visit at the end of October? I had wanted to stay in Aix-en-Provence. Is this a good place to stay? We will be hiring a car.
Thank you in advance!

Aix-en Provence is a great base. Weather will be variable but still very pleasant and warm in general. Probably not beach weather.
All the usual places are fine: Avignon, Arles, Saint-Remy-de-Provence, l%26#39;Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Marseille, Cassis, Gordes, Les Baux de Provence... Enough to keep 3 days busy.

Great thank you - I will look into these places!
Do you know whether or not it will be possible to do wine tasting at that time of year?

I don%26#39;t know but I suspect it is possible year round.

I find Aix a bit far east to be entirely convenient, myself. I prefer Arles or St Remy.
You may find it a bit cold in the evening. Last time I was in provence in early October we had a mistral and all the French people put on their winter coats! Rather extreme I thought, but their view was %26#39;You%26#39;re English, you%26#39;re used to it!%26#39;

It really depends on what your interests are, all the hilltop villages, such as Gordes, Rousillion are still open and popular, Aix is a large town with many interests, Avignon,Les Baux ,St Remy are worth a visit, remember also it is the end of the wine harvest so all vineyards will be busy. The weather can be mixed %26amp; cold in the evenings,but generally considered pleasant weather for sightseeing,three days will fly by,you are best to take a smaller area and see that rather than trying to do it all, you will miss most thing because you are diving all the time travelling from place to place.
