My mother and I will be in Paris in July 2010. I require a nice centrally located apartment with at least one bedroom, preferrably two. First floor up without a lift is the limit, otherwise will need an elevator. Looking at Marais area, but not sure whether area 3 or 4 is the nicest/safest. Found a nice apartment in 3 near Rue Des Granvilliers/
Beaubourg, but after looking at Boulevard du Temple area looks better area, is this true? Can someone please help me make this decision. Other than that you might be able to suggest something else. Wanting to pay no more than E100 - 150 per night. Thankyou

I would confine your search to west of rue du Temple until rue Tournelles and north of rue des Francs Bourgeois until 2 blocks or so from place de la Republique. For me, this is the best part of Le Marais based on where you mention. There are nice parts south of rue des France Bourgeois I would have to pinpoint individual streets. Some of them are quite a bit active, thus noisy though there are great finds in that area too (eg. rue Tresor). I think a two bedroom at that price might be difficult to find or not in great shape so you might aim for a one bedroom with a good sofa bed.
You can look at rentals directly from owners at:
http://www.vrbo.com
http://www.flipkey.com
though a few agencies slip in. They both have calendars and you can see what is available.
For other agencies in addition to Vacation in Paris which is mentioned a lot in Trip Advisor, I%26#39;d suggest these which we%26#39;ve used:
http://www.haveninparis.com
http://www.villeetvillage.com
http://www.athomeinfrance.com
I%26#39;ve been in this apartment with friends 2+ years ago and it was very nice and includes A/C though I would check with more recent renters to ensure that it has been maintained because I know the owners sold it. The previous owners were very careful and detail oriented.
