antibes

Going to Nice Monday 1st Sept,going to Antibes for the day, can one of you good people say how far the train station is from the Picasso Museum, and the old town.

Also going to Ventimigla for Fridays market, is this the stop to get off the train from Nice, how long does it take and is there a fast train from Nice. Can we get off at Menton on the way back. Many Thanks.

Hi dave robo

Check to see if the Picasso Museum is open yet. I was there in July 2007 and it was closed for renovations, then again in July 2008 and it was still closed.

The Picasso reopened a couple of weeks ago. The Station and museum are around ten to 15 minutes walk apart.

Ventimiglia is around 45 minutes to an hour from Antibes - some trains are %26quot;semi-direct%26quot; and stop at the larger stations only, others stop all stations and are therefore araound ten minutes slower. You can break your journey at Menton if you wish.

Excellent NiceLife many thanks and keep up your good work on T.A.

A post on a different site said that the museum was scheduled to re-open in October, but that might have been moved up. If not, you could take the bus over to Vallauris and see the smaller Picasso museum there. It has the huge War and Peace mural, among other pieces of interest.

It re-opened on the 20th July - you can always trust Andrew.

From Brussel or Lille with TGV which station is first Juan-les-pins or Antibes.

|||

The TGV does not stop in juan les pins = only a selection of local trains stop in JLP

Just to confirm the Picasso Museum actually reopened last year but then closed again inexplicably for 3 weeks in June 2009( for %26#39;re-hanging%26#39; a miserable little notice ouside on the barrier said )this year -reopening 1st week in July . I don%26#39;t know why this was necessary after being closed for a year anyway. I met several Americans fuming outside the entrance after coming especially from a cruise to visit the museum.

The Picasso Museum is supposed to be closed only on Tuesdays (and some holidays), but when we went there last December on a Monday the museum was closed. No notice about it, nothing at all. An angry French student was pounding on the door when we left disheartened.

The picasso museum is one of the museums that closes on a monday
