Days out of Nice

Im a bit confused. Im spending 7 nights in Nice and while we are there we%26#39;d like to take daytrips to:

Eze

Monaco/monte carlo

Villefrache sur-mer

St jean cap ferrat (villa ephrussi de rothschild)

Cannes

Antibes

Possibly menton?

Possibly st paul de vence? Is it much like eze?

Anyone suggest any other places which are %26#39;must sees%26#39; on the cote d%26#39;azur?

Could anyone suggest which day trips I could do together? and whether we should get the bus or train?

I reaaally appreciate all your help! :)

You can combine all these with natural pairing -

Nice - bus 82 Eze Village - bus 112 Monaco - return Nice by train

Nice - bus 100 Villefranche - walk from far end of the beach up to Pont St Jean and procede to Villa Ephrussi - bus 81 back to Nice

Nice - train to Cannes - 200 bus back to Antibes - train return to Nice

St Paul is unbearable cute, and often unbearably crowded with coach tours, but sadly its a must. Imagine Eze but without the sea or perfume outlets.

Something completely different, take the Chemin de Fer de Provence narrow guage train an hour and a half (50miles) inland through the Var valley to the medieval fortress town of Entrevaux.

Menton is good if you are a serious garden-person,and enjoy combing through cemeteries - there%26#39;s Aubrey Beardsley in there along with Webb, the founder of Rugby. If not, its along way to go to not like somewhere.

That should keep you out of mischief with a day or two to relax. Save some time for Nice - its a good few days in itself.

The pic on my icon is the castle at Entrevaux, the journey up there is great, makes a change from seascapes.

Nicelife, thank you so so much for your reply. I am no longer confused!

I%26#39;ve read a lot on this day trip to Entrevaux. Is the scenary really amazing? How much does the return ticket cost? I take it it goes from the main train station in Nice? Is there much to do in Entrevaux itself?

See http://www.trainprovence.com/ voor de train to Entrevaux.

It only runs a few times per day. I never took it myself. I figured out I would need 9 hours, to visit only 2 villages on the line.

This train does not leave from the main railway station of Nice. It uses a separate railway station, a little north to it (rue Prince Maurice, if I%26#39;m right).

The entrance is round the corner in Rue Alferd Binet

Closest tram stop is Liberatio n= walk past the old gare de sud facade into the car park behind - Intermarche is on the left in the middle of the car park, keep going and you will see a creamy grey and blue building across the other side of rue Alfred Binet marked chemin de fer de provence.

The train route is amazing - with lots of rock formations and dramatic landscapes to look at . the train runs along the river valley

In Entrevaux there are some nice restaurants , medieval streets to walk around, drawbridge entrance ove rthe river, a castle high up on the sharp rocky spike behind the town . a museum, ancient church, mills etc
