Central Paris hotel on tight budget - suggestions please?

Hi

My daughter and her boyfriend want to spend about three nights in Paris. As they are students they are on a tight budget (max. nightly rate €90). They don%26#39;t want to stay in a hostal so suggestions on centrally located clean hotels in safe areas would be appreciated.

Regards

I really liked the hotel we stayed in the Hotel Lecourbe in the 15th (see my review)- it is around the corner from transport, lots of shops i.e monoprix (which we were buying bread, meat, cheese, beer for about 8Euro p.n for tea), laundry across the rd and it was a really safe area. I felt it was more the parisian experience and we walked everywhere from there. The eiffel tower is about a 15min walk. It was clean, the room was small but i thought it was good that it had a bath. Make sure if they decide on this ask for a room on the street side as it is beautiful. Another thing is they did allow you to take food in your room. It cost us approx $145AU p.n which is under $70Euro at the moment, and it comes with a nice breakfast :)

Plus English speaking staff which was a bonus.

I%26#39;m not sure if your daughter wants to stay in an apartment or not, but, www.centreparis.com/ offers budget apartments beginning from 60 euros a night, I believe. Many of them are in very central locations, which is a definite plus!

I second centreparis. They have a 3 night minimum, no security deposit or agency fees. Rates start at 55 euros per night. There is an optional cleaning fee that ranges from 25 to 45 euros (depending upon the size of the apt.).

Thanks for all your suggestions, she still hasn%26#39;t found a place for the beginning of September....still looking........suggestions still welcome

Hotel de Nesle is in a great location in the 6th just off rue Dauphine. It looks very funky but seems to be well liked.

You have to call to book or see if they have rooms available.

Wow, thats a bit last minute,, only 2 weeks from now,, I am not surprised they are having trouble. September is very popular and busy too!

It is harder to get good rates last minute,, although there are some sell off last minute sites that may help.

Try Hotel Eugenie,, it may be over limit,, but in advance they have good rates.. same with Hotel Diana, and Hotel Des Mines. Good luck.

Is there a real reason they are looking for central Paris? Paris is a small city, geographically, so even though it may not look it on a map, a hotel near the metro but in less fashionable (tourist wise)arrondissements actually be quicker to all the sights than a hotel closer in but a 10 minute walk to the metro. Montmartre is typical of a place that a lot of tourists want to stay in (because it%26#39;s %26quot;central%26quot; apparently), but it can be a nasty walk uphill to the hotel after a day%26#39;s touristing.

The more central the hotel, the less value for money it is. There are cheap hotels in the very centre of Paris - I have stayed in some of them and quite frankly, I wouldn%26#39;t book my dog into some of them. For the same money you can get a perfectly nice hotel (about 60€) a 2 minute walk from the metro in the 19th - as I do these days.

I%26#39;ll preface this by saying I haven%26#39;t stayed here, but it does get some good reviews and would be within your daughter%26#39;s budget. It%26#39;s the Hotel Tourisme, and it%26#39;s located near the Eiffel Tower. Have a look through the reviews here on TA. It also appears there may be availability in early September as well.
