Drink driving and the Champagne trail

My partner and I are planning a trip to Champagne in September. It would be our first trip.

Reading some of the posts we would love to drive the Champagne trail and tastings at various villages but are worried about drink driving.

Are there any kind of organised tours via bus or will one of us need to stay tee total?

Alternatively are we better off in Epernay or Reims where we can walk instead and then both have a tipple?

cheers

Drive yourself. It will give you maximum flexibility as to where you visit and at most places you will only have only half a small flute for degustation, after all you are there for the tastings and not a serious binge session.

If you go by a bus, and I do not know of any such tours, you will end up in champagne houses chosen by the tour company, where they will get a commission on any sales.

Driving around the champagne trails is great fun and very educational. Take a picnic with you and at one of the champagne houses, buy a half bottle of champagne to accompany your food. It makes a mundane picnic special.
