Can anyone advise which of these cards is more widely accepted? We will be travelling in Amsterdam, mostly France, Switzerland and Germany.. Many thanks in advance

Either will be fine, particularly if you have an EMV or %26quot;chipped%26quot; card.
American Express is accepted in areas frequently traveled through by tourists such as larger cities.

There is no difference in the acceptance of Visa and Mastercard in Europe.
However, for ease of use, you should have cards with %26quot;chip-and-PIN%26quot; technology. So far as I know, ANZ is the only Australian bank currently using chipped cards.
