Where to go - La Grande Motte or Le' Cap de Agde?

Hello,

can anybody recommend where it is better to go for a short girl%26#39;s holiday in mid october choosing between these two destinations?

where is it more classy, much to explore and not too much family resort?

appreciate your comments. thanks!

Grande Motte is a 40 yr old town with stunning modern architecture. It is near Nimes, Montpellier, Aigues Mortes, Carnon, Sommieres etc. It is mainly patronised by French family holidaymakers. It has a winter resident population, so most things will be open in October.

Cap d%26#39;Agde is also around 40 years old and designed (unsuccesfully !) to look like a provencal fishing village. It is near Beziers, Agde and Pezenas. It attracts more of a young international crowd (families, singles, couples) and has an interesting and varied nightlife. There are areas for naturists, gays, families etc. Something for everyone ! Some attractions will be closed in October.

It will be significantly warmer than Lithuania.

I should give the advantage to Cap d%26#39;Agde. La Grande Motte will be winding down for the season (possibly more than Cap d%26#39;Adge) as this is really a summer only location.

Merci!!!!

i was actually leaning more to Le Cap d%26#39;Agde. probably will go there now.

Hello Rasa

I’m sorry to be negative, but I cannot recommend you visit Cap d’Agde in October, indeed after 15 September may be considered too late. Much of le Cap resembles a ghost town after mid-September. Though the area is very safe for ladies and, with a car, there is much to explore in the area, it is neither particularly classy nor overflowing with after-dark entertainment. The primary holiday season for the naturist town is early May to late September and, for the non-naturist town, 1 June to 31 August.

I have explored both whilst staying in the marinas on out of season sailing trips.

Just to say again that Grande Motte has an all the year round population (many commute to Nimes) and is much more active out of season than Cap d%26#39;Agde.

Cap d%26#39;Agde starts to empty in September, but I%26#39;ve found a few places open in April, May and October. There are still people on the beach end September.

The question wasn%26#39;t asked, but in October I%26#39;d think about Sete or Palavas.

In fact, I would also think about staying in Montpellier and taking the bus to the beach on nice days.
