area in 17th - guy moquet - brochant

I am looking at apartments in the area in the triangle between metro stations guy moquet - brochant and la fourche

is this a nice area? one with good local amenities like small shops? has it charm? would it be a good base for a long stay? (not concerned about centrality to tourist Paris -- but want an area that is pleasant to live in)

I can%26#39;t say enough good things about this area. We stayed in an apartment a two minute walk from Metro Guy Moquet, for a month in May 08. Tons of good local shops and no tourists because there are no %26quot;attractions%26quot;. The metro line can get crowded though at peak hours, but this is a fabulous neighbourhood.

It is a perfectly %26#39;normal%26#39; area in Paris, the sort of place where real Parisians live and shop.

Yes, you will have to take the metro more than people who are staying in the Latin Quarter or places like that, but it is much more rewarding in terms of getting a true taste of Paris rather than just the tourist experience.
