Calais fast food

hey all, im new to the calais forum so bear with me !!!

were goin to stay in a bien assise in guines for 3 nights in 24 days and heard its very close to calais, my oH is very fussy and love his burgers so any ideas on food-its our first time to france since we were young??? thanks

Steak haché is the French equivalent of a hamburger, but is probably better quality. Of course there are the ubiquitous frites which are sold also from roadside stalls complete with a lovely selection of cholesterol clogging mayonnaises and similar sauces. Many town markets sell freshly grilled chickens from specially built trucks. Other fast food includes crepes and waffles.

If you can persuade your husband to leave his pickiness at home he will enjoy the great quality of food found in nearly every place which sells food in France. Remember in the France the French eat to enjoy and not necessarily to fuel up. So be adventurous, try the incredible cheeses, saucissons, pates, cured meats, breads, pastries, gateaux and the restaurants.

Guînes is close to Calais by car but you wouldn%26#39;t walk it, there is nothing in the fast food range close to you other than the chip vans mentioned in previous post.

If you need to go to Calais for your fix the main road back to Calais from Guînes has a McDonalds right on the motorway junction

Main fast food in Calais town centre is chips.(frites)the waggons stay open to around lateish 11pm?(if thats not an advert?)

Be careful with French %26quot;%26#39;amburgers%26quot;and such cooked steak in general.

There is a tendency to serve such things very well crisped on the outside(sometimes a blowtorch is used!)in fact literally blackened with strong spicy mustard and inside its practically red raw!

Eating raw meat is considered acceptable in France and done much more than here.

Even asking for it well done can be ignored and results in the above.

The dangers of eating raw meat need not be gone over:

Salmonella,Clostridium,Tapeworms.
