vegetarian restaurants

I am looking for a vegetarian restaurant. Not a place that serves meat with excellent veggie options, but no meat at all.

It is for a small wedding celebration (not mine), so I am hoping for personal experiences and don%26#39;t want to rely on a list. If any one has any ideas, they%26#39;d be greatly appreciated. thx Ph

L%26#39;Arpege, on rue de Varenne, (border of 6th and 7th) is a Michelin 3-starred restaurant that became vegetarian several years ago. Perhaps they now serve fish, too; I%26#39;m not certain. You could check it out online.

I have never been there myself, but my daughter and her husband dined there on their honeymoon, and they highly sing its praises.

www.happycow.com I%26#39;ve been eating regularly at Guenmai restaurant in the 6th, since the 80s and no, I have no connections with this restaurant. I%26#39;ve had this nickname for decades.

The food is very good and the same family has had the place the whole time. However, it%26#39;s a place for lunch and is quite small. Happy Travels!

Hi phread: my wife is vegetarian and lived in Paris for 8 years and we%26#39;ve been going back every year for the last 10 years so we know the city pretty well and all the vegetarian options. The only real wedding celebration place is Arpege if you really want a vegetarian place. All the others we have tried really aren%26#39;t geared for wedding receptions.

If you are more flexible and want to go to a modern cuisine french place, you can probably find a lot more that will prepare no meat only options. Are you looking for a vegetarian only place or a place that could cater a vegetarian only meal ?

Also, which quartier are you looking at ?

I will ask my wife for any ideas too.

OK, talked with my wife. Beyond Arpege (which is ultra expensive) there is nothing she knows which is purely vegetarian (no meat, no fish) and would be appropriate for a wedding celebration. She recommended finding a nice restaurant that knows how to prepare good meals for vegetarians and ask them to prepare a meal for you. The harder part would be to find a place with a separate room. Don%26#39;t go for brasseries (Brasseries Flo) or fancy classic french restaurants (eg. Laperouse) as you%26#39;ll be disappointed. I called Laperouse once and asked if they will prepare for vegetarians and we went there with my dad and brother and all they prepared were vegetables.

If you are staying in Le Marais, you might try the Reconfort on rue Poitou as they have a special room upstairs that might be fine. We have eaten there several times so it must be vegetarian friendly enough since my wife likes it though you should call them about your special request.

Chez Marianne - great veggie Jewish food, Sephardi influenced, eclectic, atmospheric, casual, top notch wines, informal, welcoming.
