Visiting Loire Valley/Paris

I am flying into paris in September. We want to see some of Paris, but also the Loire Valley. I was wondering if it was possible to rent a place in the Loire valley for the week and use it as a base. Possibly even taking the train to paris for the day, although we are renting a car, from the forum it looks as though it might be easier to do the train to Paris. We found a cottage rental at La Chauviniere in the Loire Valley. Anyone heard of that? If anyone has any thoughts about this plan I would be most appreciative.

I have never heard of it - but the Loire Valley is a big place! There are thousands of cottages to rent in the Loire Valley, but you will ideally want to be near a town with a fast connection to Paris. To be practical, that means being not too far from Tours.

I can see no problem in renting in the Loire area for a week and travelling to Paris for the day - the first couple of trains to Paris in the morning are the expensive ones (people communte from Tours), so you need to bear that in mind.

I did a quick google of La Chauviniere, and if it is the one I found, it is 3kms west of Chateau Renault. That gives you the choice of going to St Pierre des Tours or Vendome to catch the TGV to Paris for your day there. You would need to check the timetables however, as not many TGVs stop at Vendome.
