Niaux caves - worth visiting/need reservation?

We will be in the Carcassone area for a few days in mid September and are thinking of visiting the caves at Niaux. Has anyone been there/what did you think of them? They look quite interesting. Would we need to make reservations ahead for an English tour in September? How far ahead should we book? Any comments/recommendations are appreciated

Thanks

You absolutely need to make reservations as visits are limited to 11 a day, 20 people per visit and 45 mn between each visit.

I am not sure they have tours in English.

Thanks - I made my reservation this morning. Have you visited the caves? I have been to a couple of other pre-historic caves in France (Font du Gaume, Peche Merle) and am wondering how these would compare. It is amazing to me to experience such a true historical place as each of these caves is.

Thanks again
